Kinesiology and working with Affirmations

Affirmations have been around in a number of forms throughout history. They are a powerful tool used in the world of personal and spiritual development. Yoga practitioners have used affirmations in the form of san culpa or mantra in meditation practices for thousands of years.  Affirmations can help us create amazing, fulfilling lives by aligning us with our values and goals. However, if they are not used in a way that is beneficial to us they can also become a statement of our insecurities and perceived personal deficits.

The 4 keys to unlocking your potential with affirmations.

1. Clarity

Do you know where you want to end up? Do you have a goal for where your affirmation is to take you? “I just want to have a happy life and a fulfilling relationship” you may say. But what does that look like? It is important to have a good clear picture of what your life will look like when you achieve your goal for your affirmation to work. Ask yourself “what does happiness look like for me?” “What does a fulfilling relationship encompass?” A fuzzy goal is like a fuzzy road map if you can’t see the destination you risk getting lost along the way.

2. Believe-ability.

The biggest key to a great affirmation is the level of believe-ability. If what we believe is our reality, then an affirmation that is beyond our belief will never become our reality. Once you have decided upon a goal test it out, can you picture yourself achieving that goal? Can you feel it? Can you smell it? If not then be realistic with the affirmation you create, make sure that you have a strong sense that you can achieve that goal and live that affirmation.

3. Positivity

It is important to make sure that your affirmations do not focus on negatives. That includes using negative words such as ‘no’ or ‘pain’. Introducing negative key words into your affirmation may cause your focus to be directed negatively each time you repeat your affirmation.

For example a negative affirmation regarding pain might be: “I no longer experience pain”. The goal for this affirmation is to stop the brain registering pain, however, how can the pain be let go of when we are constantly drawing attention to it.
A more effective affirmation might be: “I now move freely and easily”. When using this type of affirmation we can begin to open ourselves up to a life in which we move about freely and comfortably, it become more real, believable and achievable.

4. Flexibility

Affirmations should be workable and flexible. Don’t limit yourself to one specific ideal or way of living, life is in a constant state of flow, be open to flowing with it. Restrictive affirmations impose limits.
For example “I earn $2000 a week” caps your potential at that amount and cuts off your access to abundance. A restrictive affirmation can end up hindering rather than helping you on your journey.

Working with affirmations

Once you have made sure that your affirmation is believable and achievable it is time to remove any internal resistance. Here’s a quick exercise you can use to help:

Write out your chosen affirmation anywhere between 10 – 50 times a day and each time you write it down notice if there is any internal resistance.
Write down any negative thoughts that come to mind and then ask yourself where they might be coming from. Notice how each negative thought affects your state of mind and create a positive affirmation or rebuttal for each negative thought.

Once you can truly say your affirmation without negative thoughts creating resistance, then you should start to see avenues for progression, moving you closer to your goal.

Kinesiology can help you undo your blocks and help you create the life you dream of.

Kinesiology helps us to dive into the subconscious mind and identify blocks and sabotage patterns that hold you back when in the process of creating the life of your dreams.

I combine kinesiology with counselling, the Chinese medicine meridian system and the ayurvedic chakra system to balance energy centres using vibrational frequencies such as sound and flower essences.

Suggested treatment plan.

Kinesiology can either help you to find the right affirmation for you or balance you so that you are fully in tune with your chosen affirmations. When working with kinesiology and affirmations I recommend:

  • An initial 90 minute kinesiology consultation followed by 3 – 5 standard consultations 1 -2 weeks apart.
  • Further follow-up standard consultations should be spaced between 2 -4 weeks apart or booked as needed.
