Yin Yoga Workshop

Yin Yoga Melbourne

Embodied Yin

A Mindful Yin Yoga & Meditation Workshop

In Chinese Medicine it is known that Yin imbalances are often caused by overwork without adequate rest.

Signs of yin deficiency can include:
  • Dry skin and hair.
  • Night sweats.
  • Excessive thirst and dry mouth or throat.
  • Muscle aches.
  • Weakness, especially in the knees or lower back.
  • Poor memory.
  • Anxiety, irritability, mood swings and being easily startled.
  • Restlessness, not getting good sleep or waking frequently through the night.

This workshop will guide you through a mindful yin yoga and meditation practice where you will embody the Yin energy of introspection, peace and deep restoration to:

  • Release physical tension and tightness
  • Discover a deep sense of  rest and restoration
  • Shift blockages from the major energy centres (chakras & meridians) in the body.

This workshop will leave you feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and connected to your body and your self.

We live in a world where it is considered normal to be busy. Rarely do we take time to rest and regenerate our energy. In Chinese Medicine, this constant rushing and working are said to use up all of our yang energy leaving us in a state of adrenal overload and burn-out. To avoid burn-out, we must build the Yin energy to harmonise the system.

Yin Yoga works with the Yin tissues in the body, the ligaments, tendons and bones.
These tissues that become compressed and bound up with stress and during our day to day activities.
Yin yoga takes the body through a series of extended floor based holds (3-5 minutes) providing traction on the joints, releasing fixation and the stress of compression. Yin yoga incorporates a strong meditation component and is an excellent stress release therapy.

Benefits of yin yoga and meditation practice may include:
  • Detoxification & regeneration of cells
  • Hydration of tissue
  • Release of emotional blockages
  • Release of energy blockages (chakra and meridian systems)
  • Calming of the nervous system
  • Enhanced mood
  • Enhanced sleep
