How is Counselling different from psychology? Counselling and psychology are very different forms of therapy. Psychology is a science and is therefore, analytical in it’s nature. Psychologists are taught to analyse human behaviour in terms of patterns of dysfunction.

Counselling can help you to gain clarity and perspective on your problems. Counselling is a talking therapy that involves the client/’s and the counsellor. Your counsellor engages in a relationship that involves listening, challenging and helping you to work through issues, enabling you to improve your quality of life. We use a person centred, goal-oriented approach to work with physical and emotional health-care concerns. Incorporating techniques from CBT and Gestalt therapy amongst others. This means that we are committed to helping you feel empowered enough to understand your own problems, create your own goals and achieve them by creating your own solutions. What makes us different from other counselling practices is that your counsellor at Affinity is holistically trained in understanding how nutrition and movement amongst other issues can contribute to emotional health and is qualified to help you with your concerns focusing on all levels of being (physical, emotional and spiritual). We know that change and healing happen more rapidly when we take care of our bodies as well as our minds. We specialise and are experienced in using Counselling to address the following concerns: · Self-confidence and Self-esteem issues (including self-image, body image and eating disorders · Relationships (including Romantic, Family, Work, Friendships) · Grief, Loss and Trauma (including loss of loved ones, relationships, pets) · IVF and infertility related emotional stress · General Stress, Anxiety and Fear · Social anxiety · Teen issues (including self-confidence, study stress, relationships) · Life Path, Purpose and Vocational issues
